Here is more of my rescued sweet gum. This blank was supposed to go to someone in a trade that never happened so I finally turned it. I have started taking a couple of extra steps when I get my blanks ready which is allowing me to turn bigger bowls. This one measures just over 8” x 3 1/2” and is almost as big as my mini lathe will do. I started with a 10” blank to get this one.

It is an illusion of a big soup bowl sitting on a plate which was not planned but happened as I turned.

Finish is clear stain and lacquer which still needs to be buffed out once it cures.
