This was the only Christmas present I had time to make this year. I actually didn’t plan on it turning out as well as it did because I’ve never made a box like this before. My girlfriend’s Mom wanted a box for her hot glue gun sticks since I made a holder for her hot glue gun so this is what I ended up with. I think she’ll be really happy with it.
It’s made from cocobolo and quilted maple. All mitered corners and finished it off with some General Finishes Arm-R-Seal. I waxed the inside sleeve of the box so the lid would slide on and off easily. The “R” tile medallion is her first initial which was a last second thought because without it you didn’t know which way the lid should be put on. Now there’s no question which is the front and which is the back.
The last photo is a family photo of the glue gun holder and the glue stick holder.
Merry Christmas, Lumberjocks.

Beautiful woods in a well executed box—your girlfriend and her mother should both be very happy with your craftsmanship.

Wow!! Very nice. My glue sticks are in a broken up, taped cardboard box.

Neat projects! They are functional and both look good. I’m sure the box is well appreciated. Great job!
Have your say...
