In the past two years I have made a toy chest and a chair/stool for my grandson for Christmas. This year I have a new granddaughter so I asked her mother what would work for them and she said table and chairs. My daughter in law is into mission and Stickley so I found some plans that Gustav Stickley posted in his craftsman Magazine around 1910 (the table will be done in the next month or so) and here is my build.
It was built primarily with hand tools. I used white oak and the seat is Shaker Tape.
The seat backs were steam bent
As soon as I can i will blog the build

These are really nice Kevin. I love the “square” style. And your granddaughter appears to be enjoying her chair(s) as well. Great job.

Wonderful work, Kevin, I don’t think I’ve ever seen steam bent on a child’s chair before. Love the tape idea. I have a couple of chairs that need new cane seats… I have to look into that tape for them. Hope your trip to NorCal was good.
