Hi All,
When I asked “the Boss” if we were having a Christmas tree this year I got “Do we have to?” We have no kids and decorating just for ourselves has gotten to be a bit of a hassle.
So I decided to make one and to be honest I am sick of the 25+ year old fake tree. I would love to get a nice new one but it is just not in the budget this year. Maybe the after Christmas specials??
Anywho.
I saw an LG had made a tree like this last year and loved the idea. So I made it from oak scraps I had lying around. Admittedly I could have taking more time building it but the result I got from 2 hours work is insane! I can’t stop staring at it at night when it’s lit!
Yes 40 candles are a pain to light and I worry someone will knock it over but so far so good.
It is almost 4’ tall and 3’ wide. I drilled 1.5” “cups” into the end of each branch and it fits the teacup candles very well. I hope you enjoy it as much as I am!
Merry Christmas everyone!!!

I agree it would be hard to take your eyes off of it at night. Ever thought of using battery lit teacup candles? I remember last year this time I saw some at one of the stores.

Yes but needing 40 of them gets a bit pricey. Maybe after Christmas they might be on sale.

I just added 2 pictures of the tree. One is with all the branches flattened and the other is with them twisted. I have shown this to a few friends and some family and they all want one!
I guess I know what I will be making next November!!

That’s nice but not a replacement for the real thing .
I love my tree and it will never change if I have my way which is up for debate .
Good job on the build ,very attractive .
