Here’s my latest project. It’s a Sapele top on steel I-beams. The top is made from 1 giant piece of Sapele. It’s finished with Odie’s Oil, Odie’s Wood Butter and Odie’s Wax. The table weighs around 600 pounds! Sorry—I’ve gotten lazy with the photos—-ran out of time. Had to get this out the door. Check out my photo story on my blog page to see the process.

I read the blog. A lot of work went into the top. Did you make the base? Finish on the top is awesome.

Thank you. Yes, I made the base. It’s a very a simple but stable and functional design. I use this type of base a lot. I am thinking about making a wooden I beam base for my next project.

Man that’s a big slab of sapele!

Table looks great! And I like how you kept the legs simple so as to keep the attention on the table top.

Fantastic table! Like the great combo of wood and metal. Gorgeous top and cool legs. Excellent job!
