Here’s my latest project. It’s a Sapele top on steel I-beams. The top is made from 1 giant piece of Sapele. It’s finished with Odie’s Oil, Odie’s Wood Butter and Odie’s Wax. The table weighs around 600 pounds! Sorry—I’ve gotten lazy with the photos—-ran out of time. Had to get this out the door. Check out my photo story on my blog page to see the process.

I read the blog. A lot of work went into the top. Did you make the base? Finish on the top is awesome.

Thank you. Yes, I made the base. It’s a very a simple but stable and functional design. I use this type of base a lot. I am thinking about making a wooden I beam base for my next project.

Man that’s a big slab of sapele!
Table looks great! And I like how you kept the legs simple so as to keep the attention on the table top.
