Hey guys, remember me?

Patron wrote me a letter and reminded me what wonderful friends I have on Lumberjocks who I have ignored during my two year stint with gourds.

But I haven’t forgotten my friends and recently I reminded myself of wood with Loco.

Basically I started to realize that people were searching my website under Jordan Straker Gourds and I said “Okay okay, I like gourds but I LOVE wood!!!

I’m not rich yet, I’m not poor either, but dang I sure miss British Columbia.

Hey Jordan…I thought about you last weekend when I was doing a show in Jackson, MS. There were 2 artists with gourds that brought you to mind. I have yet to see anyone with the carvings as realistic as yours.
Hope to see more of your work here on Lumberjocks.

triple WOW, Jordan! I have been admiring and studying your gourds for a while now. And with your inspiration, I’ve taken up gourd carving (attached)
, hoping someday I might be as good as you are. Yah, I know that’s a big wish, but I’ve always aimed high. You are absolutely THE best in carving, whether on wood or on gourds, Jordan. I don’t know how many hours I’ve spent looking – correction – enlarging and studying each and every one of your wonderful gourds. I just know that those hours were well spent. I also remember that I asked you for advice over a year ago and you taught me that “If you have to ask, ‘Is it good enough?’, it isn’t” I took that to heart and have since improved my carving quite a bit by being my own worst critic. So far I’ve been able to win the Best of Show, Intermediate Class at the Artistry in Wood, Oklahoma City, OK, and then Carver-of-the-Year 2012 in Tulsa’s Woodcarving Association, among many blue, red and white ribbons from Arkansas and Kansas City Wood Carving Shows.. Thank you for your coaching and directing. I’ve also noticed that you truly enjoy what you do; just look at your work! So, don’t give up on me, Jordan. I’m still learning.

What grinding equipment have you settled on?

Heavy duty work? ...

Medium duty?...

Light duty? .....
