This is a project that was 10+ years in the making.

The wooden boat model of the 1851 Schooner AMERICA (the yacht that started the America’s Cup) was a Christmas gift in 2001. By spring I’d completed the hull but I got busy with life and the model was boxed up. It followed me around the country for the next several years. I finally finished it (masts, sails and rigging) two years ago and built the case for it this past summer.

I couldn’t begin to tally the hours that went into this project but I must admit that I enjoyed every minute of it!

Beautiful job on the vessel as well as the case, much detail.

Great looking model, and congratulations on finishing the project.

Stunning and a true representation of the 1851 rigging. Congratulations.
