S$! T happened, beyond control of the Pen.

Don’t hold it responsible.

Stop right now and put your lathe on the curb and mark free. I turned my first pen a few years ago…...I concur with Marcus…very addicting. The more I turn the better I get. I’m always looking to try new finishes too. Keep it will have it mastered on #2.

Yeah, i understand the addictive part. The pen was supposed to be all oak, but i had it blow out on me on the lathe. I cant get my tool rest up close enough to the piece to be careful when my blank is still a bit square. It just wont fit between the taillstock and the chuck,.....i guess its the nut on the mandrel. So, i stayed up too late trying to salvage it. At least the pen kits were half off at the Rockler store. I guess its an xmas sale.

Blew out a couple pens blanks myself today. I was determined to turn crosscut zebrawood….the lathe gods had other ideas.

Have your say...
