Well, yiayia (Greek for grandma) wanted to convert the spare bedroom into a scrapbook/craft room before the kids decided to move back, so this is the latest project. The table is just a 3/4” sheet of fir ply with a Formica faux granite hpl applied to the top. The corners are radiused at 4” and 22” so that the wife doesn’t get hurt when throwing a hip check upon entering through the doorway. The table is screwed into the studs at the back and the floating span is supported by three leg assemblies that I mortised and tenoned out of Poplar. So that the legs don’t get kicked out at the bottom, I glued them to the floor using hide glue which can be “released” if ever need be. The table measures 8’ by 4’ by 22” deep and it didn’t take long for yiayia to occupy.

Thanks for look’in in, stay tuned another installment to the room conversion is in the planning stages.

I am sure Yia Yia will whip up a galatoboureko or a Baklava for your hard work. Nice work.

That looks like a great and practical place to make lots of craft work. Well done!
