Square Spalted Oak Candy Dish

This oak candy dish was supposed to be rectangular but suffered from some weaknesses while turning. Sooo, I had to cut the “wings” off. I call it “Clipped Wings”. The bowl is about 8 inches square and 2 inches high. It came from an old 2 X 8 that got wet and developed some spalting. It is finished with satin lacquer.

Looks great, even if clipped. Very nice work. I’ll have to try a square bowl one of these days when I get ahold of a piece big enough.

A very nice square candy dish, the oak has beautiful rich colours and grain pattern…nicely turned

It’s gorgeous! Like those awesome grains and figures on wood and love the winged shape. Excellent turning!
