This is my second attempt at a memorial box for a dog. Unfortunately, we had a couple of cousins whose dog’s had passed away. This box is made of mahogany. Although the pictures do not show it, the bottom was lined in royal blue velvet. This box is meant to hold the ashes of the beloved dog, so there was no need to have a glass top. I moved the name to the top and carved it with a router, paw print for a little added to the design. The top is not hinged. Instead, I used oak pegs to have it as a lift off lid.

Lesson learned, next time around I think I will work with routing instead of the oak pegs to make the box lid fit without anything added to the piece. No fasteners were used, only glue and creative cutting.

Nicely done

Looks great, like wood choice and the carvings added great accents. Well done!
