This is a Coffee Table that I made for a customer, the base and top edge is carved out of solid mahogany. The top Parquetry center veneer is Maple Burl and the outside border is Quartered Sapele Veneer. The 1/8” deep x 5/16” wide inlay banding is out of solid Black Ebony.
My total time making and finishing this piece took me 620 hours over a five month period. To figure out the design of the Ball and Claw Lions foot and leg with the caved acanthus leaf I made a full scale clay model. This was one of my most enjoyable pieces of furniture I have made in a long time. Thank you for looking.
The over all size of the coffee table is 54” x 54” x 18” tall.

Wow. Such dedication to quality and it shows. I am a very ADHD kind of guy and I hate projects that take a week. Wonderful heirloom quality piece!

Dennis: A beautiful creation.
If I understand your post – You used Sapele Veneer 1/8” thick on top of Mahogany to make the surround on the table.

What a great looking piece of furniture...with 620 hours into it I hope you charged at least $25,000 for it.

Hi Karson, No Just the Ebony inlay is 1/8” deep. The Burl, and Sapele are veneer. I routed in a plow and inserted the ebony. Thank you for your complement.
