Southern Red Cedar Crotch from a local tree. It was cut about a year ago and I thought it was dry enough, however the bowl still cracked. Oh well… I glued the cracks and let it sit in shavings for another week or two and it all held together.
It is a pretty large bowl – for me – about a 10” diameter…
I just love the way this wood polishes up….

Did I ever mention that I love red cedar? :) Seems like you waited long enough for it to dry. Sorry about the cracks but then again the healed cracks… well… I really like them… they makes your bowl unique and even more special. I am glad it all held together for you and resulted in this very cool big 10” bowl! BTW- I’ve had some cracks too and I hope mine can come out as lovely as these!

Great save, like the beautiful shape, grain patterns and colors of your cedar. Well done!
Have your say...
