Another Fairy Door!

Much like MsDebbieP, it seems there a fairy has taken up residence in my house as well!

My two younger daughters are completely fascinated with fairies right now. All they seem to be talking about lately is fairies. My seven year old told me earlier today all about how she and her neighborhood friends built a little fairy house in the back yard under a bush. Apparently the fairy didn’t want to sleep outside with the bugs and decided to set up a little condo in our hallway.

I have to admit that I do like the fairies selection of wood. It looks like the door is made of walnut and the frame is white oak. I also get the faintest smell of BLO as I walk through the hallway now!

Be careful everyone, it looks like the Fairies are heading south!

I’m predicting we’ll be seeing, err, finding more of these in all the fashionable lumberjock homes this summer. ;)

my wife and I decided that we would wait and let the girls find the door themselves.
so far nothing. and that includes the 14 year old that saw me sanding the woodwork so the glue would hold!

it’s located right at the bottom of the stairs, so they should find it soon…

These look like an incredible amount of fun… I think I’m going to make them in secret and hide them thru my house for my wife to find…

my wife couldn’t take it any more and made it really obvious to the girls that she saw something. My four year old is having all she can do to contain herself! She called me while I was still at work “I knocked, but no one answered”! I suggested that perhaps the fairy was sleeping and was quickly corrected that fairies sleep at night! I have a lot to learn.

when I got home, there is now a small collection of gifts in front of the door. this has been more fun than anything I have done yet!

this door is wonderful and the story is as well…to think how many possible Fairy doors I could have made from scraps just boggles the mind ! LOL
