Please don’t think that because I haven’t uploaded a project in a while, that I stop working with wood. Its quite the opposite, I’m busier than ever focusing mainly on furnishing an eco-art resort which opens September 2014. Beside the one of a kind furniture pieces and interior, ill be making my organic sculptures outdoors.

The one in the photos are from the Malasimbo Music and Art Festival 2013 that took place from March1-3, Mindoro Philippines. I did an installation the year before so I knew what to bring this time: (1) bring camping gear, (2) rappelling equipment, (3) handsaw, (4) two machetes, (5) cookingware, and (6) military shovel. I took a small boat to the island 150km north of Manila.

During the previous year, I camped and made a 10ft sculpture within 11days (5days of gathering materials in the wild/ 6days of interlocking and weaving a person sitting on a tree). For this year, I camped and made a 14ft sculpture man sitting on top of mointain that has a 45degree incline all in 7days. 2days of gathering and 5days of running up the mountain and asseembling it using simple barefoot carpentry.

That is great. Would be good at the Burning Man festival here in the states. If you don’t mind burning it at the end.

We burned the sitting sculpture from the previous year while I was making this one… We dismantelled the previous one and used it for cooking/barbecuing the food for the festival this year. Its was an awesome cycle. I plan to burn this one next year too. My intension is to do this particular music and art festival every year (for free) because the event falls under the anniversay of my near fatal car accident (in March 1, 2009), which probably made me value my life 100times more.

-beautiful! I always love your work. 2 machetes _very important…is there a story behind that?! The same goes for me, only not so so fancy; i miss looking and posting, but paying the bills with wood takes all day, every day…and then some!
