this was a real fun project for me, its my sisters birthday and i took my time designing this one, it has about seven different woods, heart pine, red cedar, walnut, cherry, bamboo, pecan and bubinga, i didnt use but joints on this one as i wanted it a bit stronger and the rabbit on the end pieces created more glue area, and since heart pine can be a bit brittle and with there being a lot of straight growth rings, i was afraid it could crack where i had the hinge pins, so i glues a small piece of cherry, and i was happy with the look and the strength it provided, i sanded the edges down on the bamboo as to not have a thick abrupt edge, i wanted it thinned down and to blend in a bit, these work great for rings or small necklaces, the finish on this is BLO and a good coat of Bri wax, i buffed it out with a wool buffer and then i used an old nylon to finish it out, the old nylon works really well to give it that really nice sheen, thank you for viewing my project, any comment would be great. grizzman…P.S molly here is my tutor, she keeps me in line, and gives computer advice. :)

Another great Grizz box. You can get more different types of wood in one box than anyone I know.

Your sis should love it.

Well done Grizz! There is nothing more satisfying then making something for someone special. You have a great talent for combining wood with emotion. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your projects.
