I wrote a blog that gives a full description on how I went about this. It’s not a pretty bench, but it is surely cheap and functional. Here’s the link to the blog: http://lumberjocks.com/Hellough/blog/37682

That looks like a very functional bench! I like the tail vise. Very clever.

I built the exact same bench several years ago, great design and rock solid. The only problem I had with the tail vice is bumping into the clamp handle when walking around the bench, so I took it out and put it in only when needed. Looks great, and I like the idea of the flat surface with the MDF on the top.

Airframer, thanks! It’s a whole lot cheaper than priced ones!
Skippy, I can foresee that being a problem, especially with the size of my shop. Luckily, the one screw deal makes it a breeze to remove. It was a pretty ingenious design.

That is really cool, man. I can see some features I want incorporate into my next bench…whenever that is.

My kind of build, a user’s bench. It looks like a great build. Good luck with it and here’s hoping you can build many great projects on it.

A great WORK bench. It isn’t one you’ll be afraid to use for fear of damaging the finish. Good job.
