Project Information

I have always loved the lines of motorcycles and I thought it would make a good display. I decided to turn it into a tray so that it had some sort of function. The sides are ash with inlays of mahogany. The handles are ash as well with the swirl inlays are cherry. the base is baltic birch. The electra glide was drawn on paper, temporarily fastened to the birch with spray adhesive, then wood burned right through the paper. I tried some different stains hoping to mimic the harley davidson orange and black, but the grain just got lost in the darker stains, so i went with an old english min-wax and some varathane.

p.s. If there are any wood burners out there that could recommend a good wood burner, I am thinking about buying a new one that has different tips and is a little more advanced than the 9.99 special I used.

the burn looks good. but from my years of experence. would not recomment burning thu paper. much less thu paper and glue. lots of chemicals that would wreck your breathing.

but the harley is nice.
