Here’s a small jewelry box made of maple and cherry scraps and finished with danish oil and wipe-on poly. To dress up the inside, I added a strip of different woods that was a leftover from a cutting board project. It looks a little goofy. I made so many mistakes during the glue-up that, at one point when I was slopping on the danish oil, I thought I should just start over. But the whole project was a good learning experience, including some hand cutting and hand planing. (Oh, I think I forgot to mention the mistakes to my daughter when I gave the box to her.)

I like the cutting board accent piece.

Looks good, great idea on the colorful strips of wood. Like the tray and the compartments. Well done!
