Who doesn’t want a little bit of Americana in their house? My sister-in-law got away with another flea market buy with this old treadle sewing machine base. She wanted a table top to create a spot for her family’s popcorn maker. If you look back at my previous projects, I had some Ash left over from my Roubo Bench construction. I laminated up a solid panel from 1 1/2” inch square pieces and oriented them all with the quartersawn faces vertical. It made for a great grain pattern and will also make for a super-stable top. Panel is 26” x 30”. Sanded to 150. Stain is Old Masters Wiping stain 3 parts Provincial to 1 part Ebony. Top coated with 5 coats of Arm R Seal applied with rag. On the treadle you can see a simple box made from ash as well with the same finish. Maybe I’ll get an invitation to the next movie night now!

Great job. I know your sister-in-law will love and enjoy it. One of my first WW projects after I got out of school was a trestle table top we used for many years and passed on to children.
