My girlfriend’s grandma had asked if I could make her a box for her son’s birthday. She wanted it to put cement hand prints of when he was born, so it definitely needed to have a glass top. I decided to go the extra mile on this one, which I think proved worthwhile. This was my first project that I incorporated any sort of glass etching, and was also my first real project with the corner splines for both added durability and style. The box itself is made of simply pine, and the corner splines are purple heart. The box top has an inside frame that allows it to set inside the box while still sitting on top as well. And the entire inside was flocked with a mix of black and green to make the dark green.

All in all, I’m very please with how it turned out, and makes me want to make a few more out of some unique wood combinations :)

Hope you all enjoy looking at it as much as I do!
