This is the second of 2 Wenge’ and Padauk boxes I made this week. This one has a different texture and slightly different design. I really like this wood combination and definitely see me using it more in the upcoming future.
The finish is 10 coats of lacquer. I use the Deft Satin spray cans. Even the satin has a somewhat gloss and I an not a big fan of real glossy finishes..
The bottom inside is lined with a thick brown leather. My favorite is the alligator…but i do need to have a variety.
I am getting ready to re do part of my display shelving for my upcoming shows, so I have to spend time doing something other than making boxes…ugh.!
Time flies by so very quickly and before I know it the next shows will be here…and we are also taking a 10 day Montana vacation (also known as Shop Withdrawal) in a few weeks.

Striking! At first I thought you painted the red/orange band around the top. I agree, this is a nice wood combination. Very nice!

I really like that combination. I’m not sure what you call these scampering box creatures, but this one is the king.

Much appreciated feedback guys…!
One thing about the Wenge’ is it sure splinters a lot.! I do so very much hand sanding and need to constantly dig splinters out of my fingers. I think I have several more splinters remaining.
