Tongue drums ate really cool noise maker/ instrument, depends how good you play. Lol I made the top from walnut, needs to be a hard wood for correct sound, the box is pine, the sticks are made from wood and bouncy balls(nit shown) I cut the slits with the jig saw and glued it all together. Will probably make more for the other kids.

i dont think there is any special way to do the top except that the slits all have to be the same thicknes and same distance from the edge,
this is the one i used

It looks good, very nice pattern and the walnut top is gorgeous. I’m sure the kids will have a blast. Great job!

Thanks all, they are pretty easy to make, just a lot of sanding between the slits, and a simple box . And kids love them, and I’ve seen some adults play them on YouTube! Lol

Very nice looking instrument. Do you make your own mallets? If so, what material do you use.

yes i do make my own mallets, i buy cheap dollar store high bounce balls and put them on 1/4-1/2’’ wood dowel from craft store, cut about 12” long.
