i was asked to make a set of building blocks for a lady with some grand children….and like any sensible person she liked simple toys that only need imagination to work…not batteries that refuse to die or a wifi link….i found some old table legs and a off cut of a beach work top and a cutting i went….the box is 350×200 mm…the sides are 12 mm thick …50 mm internal with a 6 mm ply base in a 6×4 grove….the blocks were 40×40 …80×20…40×20 ….all joints (lap joints) were done on a home made router table and palm router (even i will say its just epic in all ways….im not bias ..honest)..all sanded smooth …the trays are stackable …on the base a external chamfer…and a internal chamfer on the top lip as you can see in pic. 1
only took a day to make and was a pleasing yet simple project that will hapily out last me and future generations….
thank you.

Building blocks never go out of style, and that’s a good use of scrap wood.

So cool! These are way better than the plastic ones. Kids will get loads of fun learning. Great job!
