Built this for my daughter’s Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler).
Pine framing, with pressure treated floorboards and rough pine siding.
The roof comes off as a unit for easier cleaning and transportation.
Tin roof has a slot at the top under the ridge cap, for the heat to escape in our South Texas summers.
The door is off to one side to maintain a dry corner inside even if rain is blowing directly into the door.
I built the house, cut the “Gunner” name tag on the scrollsaw, and painted it all white. The kids took over and added the Aggie graphics, which as you can see was difficult on rough siding….
Fun project!

Pretty fancy! Hope Gunner (and your daughter) appreciate your efforts. Nice job.

Wow! You’ve touched me with this. I had a dog named Gunner when I was a kid. Nice house

Nice house. Is there wood under that tin roof? Could scare the daylights outta him the first time it rains if there’s not.

thanks for the comments LJ’s!
@joe – there’s 1/2” plywood sheathing under the tin, painted both sides, to help seal the wood and dampen sound.

Super build on that great looking dog house. Great design and scroll work. Looks really sturdy, a great home for Gunner.
Have your say...
