Project Information

A pair of pine hutches I just completed. One will be donated to a charity auction, the other given to a friend's son for a wedding gift. Made entirely of #2 pine. Raised-panel doors constructed on table saw using a panel-cutting jig. The back of the tops is tongue-and-groove pine. The interior is painted. The exterior is finished in Zinsser's amber shellac. First time I used shellac and I love the golden glow it gives the wood.

Nice work! One of these and a Pie safe are on my to-do list just as soon as I can come across some old growth pine from an old barn or house being torn down. This type of furniture cries out for old growth lumber. I haven't come across any yet but I will someday
