This was made because, although I love watching these beautiful creatures in my yard, I hate having to constantly re-fill the store bought feeders…
It is made with scraps of Pressure Treated plywood, aluminum drip edge for the roof with a copper weather flap opening.
So I keep a funnel (really a 2 litter soda bottle with the bottom cut off) near the seed bags, lower the feeder, it’s on a 2-rope pulley system because of the weight, and pour the bag into the top…there is a copper weather flap that slides away….
watching the birds is now un-interrupted for a longer time.

Nice. Big enough to support a large hawk, too :) :) :)

Something special about a bird feeder project. 20lbs – that would fatten up the squirrels in my back yard. Does the wind-chime hanging from your feeder keep them (the squirrels) away?

Clever idea, I’m sure the birds love it, lots of food. Great job!
Have your say...
