My son is turning 7 this year and he loves Legos so I decided to make him a case to carry some with him when we go on trips. It is made out of poplar and has a tray inside as well as 2 Lego plates to be able to build on.

You can follow the build on my website at :

You can also watch a video of the build on my YouTube channel at :

Thank you Brian! He seems to like it so far but the real test will be when we take our next trip.

Growing up my dad built two cases VERY similar to this for Legos. They’re pretty beat up by now, but they’re still in active service almost 30 years later. Yours look like they’ll wear just as well.

Hi Truckrun

Is that a laser engraving in the last pic?

best dad ever, my son is about to be 12 and he asked for a wall display for his mini-figs so there is still some life left to logos when they stop playing with them if they stop playing with them, great job

Thanks everybody!

Bogeyguy, it looks to be about 4lbs.

JuanGatico, no it is a vinyl logo that I made on my vinyl cutter. I put one coat of poly on and let it dry then put the logo on and then 2 more coats of poly.

Great idea! It’s well designed and well crafted. He’ll enjoy it for many years and hand it down to his son for sure. Great job!

Very nice idea. My grand-kids would love something like this. If I would have started woodworking years ago my sons both loved legos as well.
