We recently replaced the wood on our 20 year old deck and our yellow lab, Champ, needed a place to live other than the deck, so I designed this “condo”. The condo is designed to fit under the overhang of the deck so Champ will be cool during our hot Georgia summers. The floor, sides and back wall are made of deck wood and the front is the top half of an old solid oak door I had laying around. The size was determined by the size of the cushions and the wood I had available. The windows are Plexiglas and the roof is sheet metal. There are wheels under rear corners so we can roll the condo out for cleaning purposes. We simply remove the awning and use handles installed for that purpose.

Champ is VERY pleased with his new place!

You did a great job on that and Champ sure does looks like a happy dog. BTW, my father’s jeep in WWII was named the Georgia Peach. Welcome to Lumberjocks.

lucky champ! Even dogs need their own space.

Recently moved my goldens house off the deck to make more room for a party. She moped for two weeks till we got it back where it was.

gives a completely different take on “sleeping in the doghouse”... tempting ;)

love the full panel windows. good transfer of natural light and nicer view than looking at a wall
