The box making addiction has set in. This is my first real box to ever make. The wood on the sides and the center of the lid is old barnwood that I ran through the planer, turns out it is old cypress. The lid frame and miter splines are soft maple. Finish is 5 coats of MinWax Tung oil Finish with 0000 steel wool sanding between each coat. And for the little spoon, it is Mahogany, finished with mineral oil and beeswax.

Your first 2 boxes are very accomplished. The sculpting is a definite plus for these.

Great job! I wish my first boxes looked that good. Both of yours are gorgeous. I know what you mean about the “box addiction”. When people ask what I do in my shop and I say “small boxes” they always look at me funny. They just don’t understand how fun box making can be. Keep up the good work!

Beautiful box and spoon! Great design, the carving added nice textures and character to it.

Have your say...
