I got this plan from everyone’s favorite (well at least mine) mortal woodworker Steve! I’ve really just stated into woodworking this being my 3rd completed project and he really has budget friendly and easy projects for beginners and he makes the videos easy to follow and understand! Thanks Steve :)

I’ve made a few of these. One a bench, one a “chair and a half” (both on my front porch with his matching pallet-wood endtables), and a third that I made as a porch swing for my cousin who gives me an atrocious amount of crate wood when I need it.

They’re solid, attractive, and pretty fun to build.

You rock, Steve Ramsey.

I built one of these, it looks great but I just didn’t like the arm connexion with the 2×4s. I did mine the opposite way you did and put the end grain at 90 degrees from the ground. I also added an “I” support under the bench to make it rock solid. I ended up doweling the arm on with two 3/8 dowels which seems to help. I counter sunk most of the screws that show and doweled them over too.
I have it sitting in my front yard with a for sale sign on it and no one seems interested. I’m only asking 150$ which is a buy by anyone’s standards.
I really wish I could sell these all day. Takes about 4 hours to make.

Great, good looking yet simple. I like that fact you used pocket hole technology, making it easier to duplicate. Thanks for sharing such good ideas.

great looking benches,i liketo watch wwmm also.
i built one awhile back and i also did the arm rests out over the front legs.i used a 2×6 for the back legs so it would recline back a bit more and be more comfortable.

I’m about to start my own version of this bench, but using mortises and tenons.
I’ve never tried something like that, but there’s always a first time for everything. I’ve been dreaming about tenons the last two nights…

wish me luck :)
