These are speaker stands I made for my son. The design was inspired by the shape of his speakers. Pic 5 is a top view of one of the speakers. The point is the front of the speaker. The 5 sided shape is carried through all 3 pieces of each stand. The finish is 2 coats of TT black dye and 2 coats of Minwax Ebony stain applied with a rag, then 3 coats of Minwax Polycrylic sprayed on with light sanding after each coat. This was done to match his television console.
The wood is red oak. I used plywood for the tops and the based, then wrapped those with solid wood. They are 36” high to match the top of his sofa. I drilled a hole in the top and the base for the speaker wires. One additional challenge is that I needed to make them so they can be disassembled and reassembled since I need to ship then from NM to VA.
This was quite a different type project for me and I learned several things during the construction and finishing phases. Thanks for looking.
