I made this Yo-Yo as a father’s day gift for my dad. He claims to have been really good at it when he was younger and after he put it to work, he can still pull off some pretty cool tricks! I made the wood blank for the two sides by cutting various species of wood at random angles to create an original design. I used maple, walnut, cherry, zebrawood, padauk, bloodwood and purpleheart. I bought a yo-yo hardware kit from Lee-Valley, which was easy to use and from my knowledge, high quality. It was a fun little project to make, and I plan on making a couple more in the future.
Happy Father’s Day!

As a father I would have loved this gift of my past. Great job. Did your dad tell you, IF IT ISN’T A DUNCAN, IT ISN’T A YO-YO? lol. ask him

G’Day Ryan, Wow and wow….what a beaut looking yo-yo you’ve made for your dad….
I’ll be watching for the you-tube link to see how he does it.
The colours and mix of the timbers is superb, very well done.
