This latest box is one of my favorites. I sawed the Black Cherry from a log my best friend gave me, the maple burl was a gift from Robert Triplett, Von Hagan taught me the raised panel on the tablesaw technique, BlackCherry taught me the finishing technique, and Shipwright taught me to make these cool hinges. So this is truly a LJ collaborative effort!

Dimensions: 14×8 x 4”. Finish is rubbed on shellac. Shipwright wooden hinges that are just under 1/4” thick. Chamfering the edges of these hinges makes them cleaner and less bulky looking to my eye. I also changed the sequence of build on these hinges and they went a LOT quicker.

I have always loved how clean and beautiful your work is. This is another example of how quality your workmanship is.

Another perfect box Andy. You have that hinge down pretty darn well.

If you want it even cleaner yet make them integral to the box. I can’t remember if you’ve done that yet. At any rate you have perfected them as a separate hinge and your details are just right all around.

Gadzooks that is certainly one of your best. Everything, just everything is superb. One of these days you are going to have to participate in one of those kooky craft fairs. You have got to be over run with boxes. What would you buy with all of that extra dough?

Thanks all.

JoeyG, Good to hear from you. Hope the angelfish are all thriving.

Paul, I’ve done the integral hinge but don’t think it would work with a lid this shallow

Jumbojack, Yea, I have WAY too many boxes but I just can’t stop building more! And you guys don’t help by bragging on them!
