I made my first wand. The handle is turned maple…since I don’t have a steady rest, I wasn’t able to turn the whole thing from one piece, so I drilled a hole in the center of the handle and glued a dowel in. Then I used my pyrography pen to darken all the wood (no sanding needed!) and give it a nice beaten look. I also added some “mystical” characters around the handle.

Then I needed a base and holder for it. I looked around my shop for some ideas. I found an off cut piece of maple that I drilled a hole in, then some 14 gauge wire. I braided the wire and glued it in the wood. Thus making the base!

Greaet looking wand. It’s a great feeling being able to make your kiddos presents.

It’s a unique and fun present. He’ll get lots of creative imagination playing with it. Like the interesting stand as well.
