There are several woodworking sites that I follow on Facebook and one of them is Ana White’s. She runs a DIY blog and gives out plenty of free plans that she sketches. A while back she posted a plan for a thumb chair that you can find on her blog. Once I saw it I knew that it would be perfect for my two boys. It can be made out of 1×3’s and some 1×12. My local Home Depot never has flat 1×12’s so I picked up some 1×6’s and glued them up for the seat bottom & back. I plan on making a couple more and hope to make a video to post on YouTube.

Cool little chair! I like how well the wood took that deep red stain. Did you use the “whitewood” available at HD, and what kind of stain/finish did you use?

richardwootton I used varathane cabernet water based stain and varathane water based glossy polyurethane.

Good looking little chair! Like the design and the stain and finish. I’m sure it will last long to be enjoyed by the kids. Well done!
