I made this walnut cabinet as a wedding gift for my daughter. The plans are from Woodsmith No. 101. I bought the lumber from Woodworker Source out of AZ. The cost including delivery to OK was reasonable and the lumber was of good quality. I’ve ordered from them before for the cherry bed I built and was equally pleased with their product and service. The had a video on their web site for finishing walnut so I used that technique seen here:

I had some trouble with the second step, the sanding sealer would pull up some the the dye and it would get blotchy. I ended up using a rag to rub it on and that seemed to work. I really liked the gel stain and after the three coats of gloss lacquer, the end result was amazing. I hope she likes it!

Great work! The final result of the finish turned out very nice. I’m sure she’ll love it. Nothing like receiving a handmade heirloom from Dad on your wedding day.

Pretty and well made cabinet! Love the walnut and the finish is just gleaming. She will treasure this forever because it’s specially made by Dad.
