This is a simple sofa/end table with a tissue holder built in.
I needed an end table for my new sofa. I also have kids (2 and 5 year olds), so I always have tissue around. I figured why not build a tissue box holder into the table and save a little space.
This has a curly maple top, sappy maple shelves, and sappy walnut for the rest.
It came together pretty quickly. I had it completely built in a day. Then sanded and finished the next day. Then a few more coats of finish the next and it was all done. Being a weekend warrior, it’s satisfying to complete a project in a (long) weekend.
Not much else to say about it. Waterlox finish I guess.

Filling a need, while doing it in a clean-cut way. Never seen anything like this before. Did you just put a hidden shelf underneath, or is the tissue box contained in another way?

Just a shelf at the bottom of the apron. Designed it so the distance between the long aprons fits a tissue box perfectly. Or, it just so happened to fit perfectly. I was originally going to orient the opening the other way, thinking I didn’t have enough room. Worked out though.

I don’t think that I’ve ever seen this done. It’s quite unique and you’ve done a nice job on the table.

Brian,
What a great idea and very well executed!
