This was my second project made from the fallen water oak from my in-laws, for my Mother-in-law Like the pig, I quartered the piece of wood with my coping saw, then shaped it with sandpaper. I made the cross lap joint with the coping saw, which as you can see is not terrible accurate. Bargain wood glue holds the beams together. I burned the verse into the wood with a $5 burner, which I am not terribly elegant with. I used Tim instead of Timothy on purpose, and my Father-in-laws name is just Tim. I also painted on a coat or two of polyurethane. I drilled the hole, thinking that it would be used as a Christmas tree ornament, as my in-laws are obsessed with them, but they decided that they wanted to see it more than one month a year. And don’t make fun of the Chuck Norris shirt, or he will appear next to you, and drop kick you in the face.

Nice work on it. A simple but meaningful keepsake for loved ones.

Have your say...
