Valet box 2.0

A few months back, I finished the first version of this box. I, like many of us, have perfection issues, and due to a dovetailing alignment issue, the front face of the first box wasn’t exactly what I wanted.

So, this is the first time I’ve built two of anything. :)

This is a place for me to dump all the stuff that lives in my pockets at the end of the day. I made a few things different (mostly with the drawer slides), and slightly increased the overall height to get more depth in the drawers, but the overall design remained unchanged.

Curly maple and walnut, turned the knobs on the lathe. Enjoy!

A couple more of these and you might have a great box. Just kidding! This one is great. A lot of nice details and great wood. I think you will enjoy seeing this every day.

-- Robert, so much inspiration here, and now time to work!!!

Very nice! Love the wood choice! I’ve been trying to figure what to make for my nephew’s graduation gift, I think I found it!

Very nice valet box, I’ve been building them to sell and they are moving very nicely more so then jewelry boxes and I believe it’s due to the fact that women shop more and they shop for their men, more so then men shop for their ladies, just can’t seem to bring myself to grab one for myself as long as I can tag it with a price :)

That is a beautiful valet! The walnut/maple combination is always a winner. And your craftsmanship was flawless!

You must have a lot of loose change and lint in your pockets at days end. Nice job. What are the dimensions?

Nice contrast with the wood choices. I especially like the way you cut the fronts out of the same piece of wood and matched the grain.

Thanks, all!

@Bogeyguy, yeah, I do have lotsa stuff… It’s about 14×10x4 or so.

@Jim, thanks for noticing! That was the ultimate reason for 2.0!

Very nice project and functional. Your choice of woods and grain alignment works very well all around. The maple looks like folded velvet in some of the pictures. Very cool look. Well done.
