I made this wood license plate for my wife’s van. It contains our local high school logo. This is a quick and easy project that anyone can make for a car, truck, bike, boat, or other vehicle. They also make great gifts for any sports fan, auto enthusiast, truck driver, car collector, racing fan, soccer mom, etc.

Click here to see my video of this project.

Search Google Images to find logos.
Select a simple logo that will be easy to cut out.
Use contrasting woods and thicknesses to add color variation and depth.
You can use a coping saw, jig saw, scroll saw, or band saw.
Use Titebond II wood glue for exterior applications.
Apply a weather resistant finish.
Use thin wood (1/4” or less) as thicker wood may require longer screws.
Check your local laws regarding front license plates.
Be sure to fasten the plate securely to your vehicle.

Nice, and sure to be legal in any state where your cousin is the sheriff.

Great idea and well executed. I looked at your video and the first thing I see is that your wife’s car had the same flag license plate as my truck and in about the same condition. Maybe it’s a sign I need to make one of these.
