ash/walnut/hickory end grain cutting boards

this is my first attempt at cutting apart a cutting board and putting a thin slice of wood in it and putting her back together. im sure theres a term for what this is called. ive made many walnut/ash end grain cutting boards. people seem to like the checker board pattern. with this one i took some scrap pieces of hickory for the thin strip.ive seen alot of cutting boards that have this concept with the thin strip placed in it(mine look pretty grade school compared to some ive seen). i kept these pretty simple being my first attempt. im excited to play around with this concept. im thinking the options will be endless. we will see what the future cutting boards will look like…..........
