My friend, Lou was going to help me make a dulcimer for my wife as he has made 6-7 already. I really am a wood turner and so I started this project out by tearing up a nice thin piece stock on the planer due to the fact I tried to hog of a little to much at a time on the planer. Lou, ended up basically building it for me as I am not very good at the flatboard stuff (it’s the dark side).

The front and back are book matched from black walnut and the sides are cherry. Lou did a great job on this instrument and it also sounds great. Bob, another friend did the scroll saw work on the eight notes on the front.

I did give Lou a bottle stopper I made of cocobolo (pic #2). I am thinking that I came out way, way ahead on this one.

Thanks Lou for saving me from just ruining a bunch of nice wood!

Well congratulations to Lou and Bob for this well made Dark Side project. Excellent looking, can’t comment on the sound. Maybe Lou and Bob should join LJs.

Mark send my compliments to Lou that is an awesome Dulcimer.
Nice bottle stoppers, but I would have to say you did well out
of the deal.
