While helping my brides mother clean out her garage we came across this dart board, with so many fond memories of the childhood treasure it had to be mounted “right away”.....

So there are several reasons not to mount a dart board to a concrete wall, The first would obviously be the cost of darts.
We needed a solution fast, and this is what I came up with after about two hours in the scrap pile.

1/4” cork flooring under-lament glued to a 1/2 sheet of 3/4” plywood would have sufficed but why stop at sufficient. I had plenty of red oak molding left over from another project, some 1/4 round, a nice piece of crown and the shelf is made from cabinet toe kick drilled to hold far more darts than I would like to purchase in a life time.

Sure it’s fit for a lavish game room but I had to stop short of hiring an architect and adding a second floor, we prefer the kids get fresh air anyway. The lizard in the photo makes the game far more sporting also.

I hope this gives my fellow LJ’s some outdoor ideas.

No lizards were harmed in the making or use of this project.

I have one collecting dust in the garage I was planning on mounting. I have a ton of wine corks I was planning on using for the project backing. Likely enough to cover the whole board. Thought of using a band saw or pick up a scroll saw with a push stick and fence to rip them all in half so that I can make a good glue surface and double my amount!

The wine corks would definitely add some texture and color, I think given the small size cutting them would be safer on the band saw.

Great solution and design, like the crown and the shelf for the darts. Makes a fun time outdoors. Great job!
