Made of Catalpa with Black Walnut accents.
4” x 4.5” x 11.5” Finished with Satin Wipe-on Poly
Designed to hold 3.5” x 5” size recipe cards, which I have since found have fallen out of popularity in favor of 4” x 6” cards. Center divider is removable.

wow- looks great! I love the dark accents.
2 questions- how do you get you lid to line up so perfectly (mine never do) and how do you take such nice photos which nothing in the background?

Great looking recipe box…love the catalpa!.......I know what you mean about the 4×6 cards being preferred. I have done a few recipe boxes as wedding or shower gifts and asked ahead of time about their preference…..every one wanted the bigger sized cards. Now, when I make one, I order one set of cards to put in the box, along with a set of dividers.

Nice box. Very clean and tidy. Now I’ve got to find some of that curly catalpa like you have on the lid! We used to have a lot of catalpas at the ranch but I haven’t seen one in a long time.
How is that top panel attached to the box sides? (please)

Tooch.
I do the hinges painstakingly slow and sneak up on the fit. I photograph using a roll of paper that I stretch out to give a seamless effect.

The curly wild grain occurs around the knotholes, had to do some tricky cutting to get the piece for the lid.

Great looking recipe box! Your wood has beautiful grains. Holds more recipe cards. A great gift idea!
Have your say...
