More of our Kitty Cat family.

My wife loves cats, but we don’t have any cats anymore, so when she seen this pattern in an issue of the British, Woodcarving magazine.

She said ”I want one of those”

It ended up with what you may call a herd of these little critters, & we don’t need a sandbox for them either. LOL

They’re 8 1/2 ” long.

The profiles were cut with the bandsaw.

Most of the carving, if you want to call it carving was done with my flexible shaft tool with a course 1/2” sanding drum.

The finer details were done with chisels. & the final finish sanding was done by hand.

Nice work Dick, if it was anything but a darn cat. You did a good representation of them though. In fact too good. mike

Dick, these are lovely. My Barbara, too, is a cat lover. We currently have two. I would love to get a copy of the original pattern. Any possibility?

ditto what Don says, my wife loves cats too. We have 4 in the house, one outside. I’ve not carved yet, is this a good entry-level project?

MikeB
I think this could be called entry level. There isn’t much carving with carving tools though. Mostly band saw, Flextool, or Dremel.
Don, I’m not sure if I can copy the pattern legally, because it’s from a magazine. Please advise me about this.

There are the kittens. These are the only kind of cats that I’d have at my house.

Is there a web link for the British Woodcarving Magazine? I was unable to find much about it. I’m not much of a carver, but could probably work my way through it…

Thanks

Thanks WayneC,
They don’t have an internet magazine, but here is their website.

I just happened upon this (you came up as the featured woodworker on the home page). These are really cute, bet Barb is very happy with the results.

I still love these cats. Great to see them show up on the home page. I’ve not been around much lately. How are you and Barb doing?
