Customer wanted a bench that was 21” high by 48” long and “not too wide”? She gave me a basket she found at Ikea and wanted to use these so afetr several design changes this is what beacme of it. The top is 6/4 red oak and the corner posts are 6/4 red oak as well. The carcass is 3/4” red oak veneer ply with solid wood edging. The top was 16”x48” and was hand planed flat and hand scraped smooth. The finish (not shown) was 3 coats tung oil and 5 coats wipe on poly (000 steel wool between each coat).

Looks great and sturdy bench! Like the simple design and the additional storage.
Have your say...
