Project Information

On a wet, dreary Northern England day about two weeks ago, the better half and I went hunting for interesting wood for me to turn. First photo shows the finds, from bottom to top, a bit of cut log, possibly Field Maple, middle, a thing that in all honesty I have no idea about and finally, a root ball someone had dug up and lobbed over their back fence into the wood. 'One man's rubbish'... and all that.

Anyway, the other pictures are the log which has now been roughed out into a winged bowl and the root ball which is hopefully going to turn into really nice looking bowl. The middle thing is roughed but very very punky so may well just disintegrate as it dries. All are now bagged and on the shelf for a few months.

Now to find a moisture meter on Ebay….. ;)

can't wait for the snow to melt up here in MN. I have a handful of hardwood stumps to go round up from some trees my brother felled last summer. they were gunna burn them but I stepped in to save them for projects. gotta love the grain patterns in stuff like that. Looks like you appreciate the more unusual finds as well
