A few more pens made within the past few days. Wanted to try some new woods and a new blank I made from off cuts.
First pic is sycamore with black chrome.
Second pic is purple poplar. This wood stinks when drilling but looks cool!
Third is a blank I made from purple and yellow heart cut offs.
On the last two I went back to using CA glue and then a coat of Hut friction polish. I think I like the CA look. It is also my understanding that the friction polish will wear off in a few months and the CA glue wont….not sure about that but I don’t want to risk a bunch of unhappy customers if their pens go dull…

I have pens 10 years old with friction polish, a little buff with any kind of wax works wonders. The segmented pen with the purpleheart and yellowheart looks good, make more! (laughing) I sell more of the segmented and oddball ones than the solids, makes good use of the smallest scraps.

Fine looking pens! The blanks are beautiful, love the segmented one. Good use of scraps.
Have your say...
