This is a print that we picked up while on vacation in San Diego at one of the art museums in Balboa Park. My wife really liked the painting that was on display, and they happened to have prints of that painting for sale. She asked if I would make a picture frame for it. A couple of months later, here it is. It is made of Ipe with BLO and wax finish. I really like the BLO and wax for this wood as it is so dense that the bare wood will take a shine. No sand paper was used before finishing. It was all scraped with a card scraper, as it takes to long to sand Ipe because of it’s hardness.
Now I’m waiting for my wife to find the right wall to hang it on. This will probably take as long as it took me to build it!

I truly favor the work of Martin J. Heade. This painting I beleive hangs in a St. Louis museum. You have done it justice with your excellent picture frame! Thanks for sharing your work with us.
Have your say...
